Holy Saturday

“Why do you seek the living one among the dead? He is not here, but he has been raised.”
-Luke 24: 5-6

When the women arrive at the tomb and find it empty, imagine all the terrible thoughts that must be going through their heads. They have just witnessed Jesus go through an indescribably painful death, and now his body is missing. They must have been panicked thinking that something had happened to the body of Jesus, furious that someone would defile his body and remove it from its burial place.

Now imagine the great reversal in emotion as the angels appear, telling them that Jesus is not here, not because his body was stolen, but because God had raised him from the dead. Imagine the great wonder and awe they experienced as they realized the true meaning of the words Jesus had spoken before his death. The realization that the crucifixion was not the end of the ministry of Jesus, but the call of the Father for Jesus to fulfill His new covenant and ascend beyond death.

Spend some quiet time today with Jesus
